Who is Gigi Guizado?
Gigi Guizado (Pronounced Geese-áh-dough) fell in love with the performing arts at a young age, and began acting at San RafaelHigh School where she won a scholarship to San Francisco’s New Conservatory Children’s TheatreCenter, hosted a radio show, and appeared in the iconic 80’s rock video “Sister Christian” by Night Ranger. She continued studying drama at College of Marin and UCLA, earned her BA in Theatre Arts at San FranciscoStateUniversity, and continued performing in Bay Area regional theatres (Marin Theatre Company, San Jose Stage Company, The Marsh) and independent films. She is co-author, along with Don McCunn and the Fashion Show Ensemble, of the performance piece, “The Fashion Show”. Her feature film debut, placed her in the cult favorite “Colma: The Musical” working with director Richard Wong and screenwriter/composer H.P. Mendoza. She was a member of the Emerging Latino Filmmaker’s Panel during the International Latino Film Festival of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Guizado’s breakout performance in “I’m in Love with a Church Girl” found her playing opposite Jeffrey “Ja Rule” Atkins and Adrienne Bailon.
Gigi was raised in the Presbyterian Church and married her college sweetheart in Saints Peter and Paul Church in San Francisco’s North Beach. She is the granddaughter of Colombian playwright, classical radio pioneer and diplomat, Rafael Guizado ( Complemento, Sonata en la Playa, Las Edades del Hombre, Cinco Veces Amor, Allegro, Scherzo, Renuncia Ministerial) and beauty queen Lucy Pinzón Suárez (Señorita Caldas, Miss Manizales). On her mother’s side, Gigi is a distant cousin of film star Myrna Loy. In addition to performing, Gigi enjoys raising her family in the suburbs of Las Vegas, and contributing to the growing field of healthcare simulation.
